The
Duncan Surname Association (DSA) was founded in the
early 1990s by W. A. "Wes" Duncan
(1930-2003). The purpose was to
collect and make available documented information about all Duncans
(including several variant spellings of Duncan) who lived in the
United States prior to 1850. To assist Wes, Mary Ann (Duncan)
Dobson, the "Genealogy Bug," gave him a copy of her
research files, which consisted of her own library research compiled
since
1975, and also research shared with her by other Duncan descendants. Mary Ann's home page titled "DUNCAN Genealogy Research Files" includes almost all persons with the last name DUNCAN or similar in the 1790 to 1870 US censuses by state, and Duncans in the early wars. Of course, the "DUNCAN Genealogy Research Files" posted on the Web are not totally complete copies of Mary Ann's files. The Web version of Mary Ann's files have been edited to exclude the names and addresses of contemporary Duncan researchers, copyrighted material from county histories, and so forth. This type of supplemental information is available in the complete files available only to DSA members. (See DSA Membership below). See:
http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~dobson/ By
exploring this web site, researchers can see the names of other
descendants who may share the same Duncan ancestor, email queries to
C. T. Duncan and
participate in the database. Membership in DSA is not required to
query and participate in the researchers/ ancestors databases. To
