      File D-14, 1790, Estate of Duncan, John; James Leeper, Accountant, acting as Administrator. 9/12/1786, Bond of Isabella Dunkin & James Leeper, George McCullough, Samuel Hannah, all Washington Co. PA, for administration of estate. Receipt (to) John Duncan (from) John McLane due(?) for schooling 2 years Viz. 1785 & 1786 2 Scholars; Received from Widow Duncan by me, John McLane. Receipt John Duncan (from) James McNary for his part expenses in patenting his land in 1785 (listed on 9/15/1794). 1789 (to) Isbel Donken (from) Samuel Rodgers due to weaving at sundry times ... 11/22/1784, John Duncan purchases incl. spelling book and primer, ribbon, cloth & hat; 1/20/1785, purchases incl. cloth, all from Samuel Harper; partial payment made 11/1785 by John Duncan, the balance from his estate. 9/20/1786, James and David McNary inventoried the estate of John Duncan, the exhibit was signed "Satisfyed by me, John White" (CAD: A John White Jr. was listed as one of the guardians of the orphaned children in 1791.) On 8/11/1790, a bill was submitted for grubbing 2+ acres in 3/1790 under title, "Widow Duncan, Dec'd") Claims filed 5/1791 for work ordered by Widow Duncan from 6/1788 through 1/25/1790; claim 6/1791 shows 2/1790, estate of Isabella Duncan Dec'd.

Washington Co. PA Deed Book 1X, pg.342, 15 Dec. 1796, John Duncan of State of OH deed to his brother Andrew Duncan of Washington Co. PA; that their father John Duncan died intestate and left land in Chartiers Twp, Washington Co. PA, adjoining land of James McNary and others, where Andrew now lives; there were eight heirs to the land, namely, Elizabeth, Anne, Margaret, John, Andrew, Mary, Susannah, and Isabella; that John bought his sisters' claims and made them over to Andrew; this a deed for John Duncan's one eighth part and likewise his sisters parts, namely Anne Duncan, Margaret Duncan, and Mary Duncan. Wit. William Slemons, William Slemons Jr. Recorded 31 May 1813. (LDS film 862,519)
            Deed 1X-341, 11/2/1795, Elizabeth had married Samuel Hannah, Margret had married John Neilson, and Ann had married James Neilson, the land adjoined lands of James McNary, George Wallace, widow Allison, and widow Hues. Witnessed by Patrick McCullier, Daniel McLane, and James Ramsay. Deed IX-343, 4/3/1809, Susannah Duncan was still "Duncan", Isabella had married John Craig. Deed 1X-344, 10/20/1810, similar to Deed 1X-341.

      Pg. 939: Northfield Twp. John Dosenbury, farmer ... mar. 11/14/1835 Ruth Duncan, born Dec. 6, 1816, in Beaver Co. PA, the daughter of John and Elizabeth (McLean) Duncan. John Duncan's parents came from Ireland, and he was born at sea while his parents were coming to this country. Thirteen children were born to them; eleven grew up, Robert, John, Hannah, Ruth, McLean, William, Elizabeth, Mary, James, Simeon and Perry. The Duncans settled in this township (Northfield) about the year 1821." (MAD: Beaver Co. PA formed 1800 from Washington and Allegheny Co. PA)

NIMROD DUNCAN, Rev. Pension Application W-2925 (part from Merritt Wolfe; part 970,864, SLC 9/17/84).
      Application 10 Dec. 1842 in Shelby Co. KY by John Duncan age ca 53 and Joseph Duncan age ca 50, only sons of Nimrod Duncan (insane for 15 years), all residing on same premises in Shelby Co.; Nimrod lived in Fauquier Co. VA, enlisted in Nov./Dec. 1779 in VA under Capt. Mark Thomas, Maj. George Slaughter, in IL Reg. until 21 Dec. 1781; witness Charles Baird, age over 64, met Nimrod in 1794 in Shelby Co. Declaration of Hannah Duncan 24 March 1845 in Shelby Co. KY; widow of Nimrod Duncan; m. 1786; 7 October 1848, Hannah age 79, m. Nimrod Duncan on 13 Feb. 1785 in Fauquier Co. Deeds K2-174, 3/7/1845, Caleb W. Trailor and wife Martha of Montgomery Co. IL; heirs of Catherine Street, widow of David Street and dau. of Nimrod Duncan, of Macoupin Co. VA to his seven sons, James Allen Duncan, William McHenry Duncan, John Lawson Duncan, Benjamin Duncan, Josephus Duncan, Chester Ballard Duncan, and Elisha White Duncan of same, for $1, 3 tracts total 216a on Sinking Creek where Wm. Duncan now lives, one of 150a which was conveyed to said Wm. Duncan by Wm. Duncan Sr. 24 April 1821 adj. land Wm. Duncan Sr. bought of Rector, line of Adam Hanns; and 30a of another tract of 42a in the same deed, which conveyed the above 100a (150a?), the 30a is the west end of said 42a survey, the remaining 12a was conveyed by Wm.
