Great-great-grandfather: James (?) Duncan. Typed note at bottom of form: James Duncan's father was born in Virginia, believed to have been a methodist minister who emigrated to Georgia before 1785, wish information.
(back of form) Addresses of all of this family or name that I know of: When I was a small child my father told me a little about the Duncan family, of which I remember very little. I do remember that he told me a story told by one Duncan and handed down to his descendants: this man was a small child when he came to the United States from Scotland (I believe), he remembers the long voyage, how tired that they all got, and how happy they were when land was discovered, they all offered a special prayer for their safe voyage, this man was one of several children, I believe, and was with their parents. The James Duncan, Sr., of these records was the son of a James Duncan, I believe, I do know that his father was born in Virginia and emigrated to Georgia before 1785, bought his first land in Jasper County, Ga., probably then Greene County.
(MAD: they are buried in a cemetery in the part of Russell Co. GA that became Lee Co. GA in 1866. Their marriage is recorded in the published books of Greene Co. GA records as James Duncan to Sally "Sinsdel", July 22, 1805.)
